In the present study we list the non-flying mammals of Chapada Diamantina National Park and surroundings. catherinae in the semi-deciduous forests of the state of Paraíba, representing the northernmost records of the species in the Atlantic forest and thereby extending its known geographical limits.Ĭhapada Diamantina is located in central Bahia state, and has a large diversity of habitats, including important transitional areas, but has remained largely unstudied until now. In this paper we also report the presence of O. A table with external and cranial measurements of the analyzed specimens is provided. Specimens presented 2n = 60 and AN varying between 62 and 64. To gain a greater understanding of its geographical and ecological distribution (mainly in Northeastern Brazil) and of its taxonomic characterization, we provide a short review of karyotypical and morphometrical data from specimens collected within the distribution range of the species. catherinae Thomas, 1909 is known to occur within the Brazilian Atlantic Forest from the states of Santa Catarina to Pernambuco (where the northernmost previously known specimen of Oecomys in the Atlantic forest was recorded), and along riverine forest into the Cerrado. The genus Oecomys Thomas, 1906 is currently composed of 16 species with unclear taxonomy and poorly known geographic limits. Possible reasons for this are the diversity of habitats and the fact that EPDA-Peti is located in a transitional zone between the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado. In spite of the reserve’s small size, mammal species’ richness is relatively high. The small mammal community from the campo rupestre (high altitude, rocky grassland) habitat is distinct from that found in the forest. The most abundant small mammals at the EPDAPeti were Oligorizomys flavescens, Akodon cursor, Trinomys setosus and Bolomys lasiurus. Fifteen species not recorded in previous inventories at the Station were identified on the other hand, 14 mammals listed in previous studies were not recorded now. Forty-six mammals belonging to eight orders were recorded. Eight field campaigns (including trapping for small mammals and mist-netting for bats) were conducted between May 2002 and July 2004. Suggestions regarding the management of the area are given to improve the conditions for a high and valuable biodiversity.This study presents the results of an inventory of the mammal fauna of the Estação de Preservação e Desenvolvimento Ambiental de Peti (EPDA-Peti) a reserve in the transition between the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado. ![]() ![]() Ten species (Dysdera moravica, Megalepthyphantes pseudocollinus, Trichoncus affinis, Porrhomma errans, Alopecosa striatipes, Cheiracanthium oncognathum, Civizelotes pygmaeus, Zelotes aeneus, Thanatus arenarius, Talavera aperta) are discussed in details and their records in the Czech Republic are mapped. Several findings represent the northernmost occurrences of rare thermophilic spiders in the Czech Republic. However, the studied area does not belong to this particular region. ![]() 36 mainly xerothermic species were recorded, representing a valuable arachnofauna typical for the Pannonian Region. Numerous threatened species listed in the Red List of the Czech spiders were found (CR – 1, EN – 1, VU – 11, LC – 23). In total, 11634 individuals from 154 species in 88 genera from 25 families were recorded. The spiders were samdoi: 10.30963/aramit5812 pled using pitfall traps and through sweeping of the herb vegetation. Spiders from the steppe habitats of the Pláně Nature Monument (Czech Republic) were investigated.
